1945 – The Recovery of Wolfgang‘s body and the wreck

The wreck of the aircraft was located about 900 m above sea level, where a large part of the year lays snow. This might be a reason why the metal parts and textiles were that good preserved.
In June 1945 the body of the pilot that lost his life was recovered. Together with him, parts of the aircraft were braught back to the valley. The tailwheel was a really estimated object of utility: it has been used as a wheelbarrow tire for 43 years. Furthermore frying pans were made out of the aluminium of the aircraft.
